Mealy Bugs
Taxus mealybug is easily seen when looked for, the symptom more readily noticed from several feet away is sparse yellow foliage covered with sooty mold. These mealybugs occur on stems and branches, and tend to cluster in forks of branches. They over winter as nymphs that become active in the latter half of May, and by early summer adult females begin giving birth to live young. There are two or three generations per year. This insect has been reported from other plants such as apple, cedar, linden and maple, but is not known to reproduce on these plants. |
